SiPFAB is an open System-in-a-Package pilot line being established at Tampere University. It will enable companies to develop and test next-generation hybrid chip systems, creating sustainable, customized packaging solutions for the most most demanding applications. SiPFAB is part of the WBG Pilot Line, supported by the Chips JU and the national authorities of Italy, Sweden, Poland, France, Germany, Austria and Finland.
The SoC Hub is a joint initiative between Tampere University and industry partners, focusing on the co-development of System-on-Chip solutions. It brings stakeholders together and drives innovation in applications such as intelligent machines and edge computing. Optoelectronics Research Centre at Tampere University is one of Europe’s leading optoelectronics research groups, with over 30 years of expertise in molecular beam epitaxy and the development of advanced optoelectronic devices, including laser diodes and solar cells. The centre forms the foundation of Tampere’s “Laser Valley” ecosystem and provides access to comprehensive nano- and microfabrication facilities for III-V optoelectronics chips and systems. Tampere region (Pirkanmaa) has been elected to the Presidency of the European Semiconductor Regions Alliance (ESRA). The position strengthens Pirkanmaa’s role in the preparation of the EU Chips Act and raises the region’s profile as a leading hub of semiconductor expertise.
